It was summer of 2013, I was in 6th grade. Remembering those days I am just flooded with a lot of memories writing it. After School as we came home we had an anime named Kickers airing on the TV on the Sonic channel. If You are a 2000s kid then you must have watched this anime or heard of it. This is one of the most inspiring anime I have seen on the television. And yes it was kind of different from other anime where the things do not come to the mc. It was about a football club and the protagonist is kakeru who is great at football plays forward and is the best player in the team and was from a very reputed team.
Today I'm going to review this anime and make sure that I do not miss any aspect of it reviewing it. Lets first start with the fact that this anime has a total 26 episodes(list can be found here). Its mal review is for Japanese dub but lets rate it for its story, Hindi dub, animation, plot and others. The MAL review for it can be found here.
Story
Its story in the first 12 episodes revolve around the boy kakeru and his actions to assemble a team of 11 men in his new school. When Kakeru comes to Kitahara elementry he tries to reassemble the team which has been demotivated and has not at all any sparks left to proceed any further with football. They challenge a very strong team red devils although looses the match but a moment comes in match when we just can't deny our interests increasing in the anime. The story in 1st half is good and then talking about the mysterious coach they find in 2nd half the story becomes even better then we have many doubts about who the coach is but no surety at all.
I'd rate the story of this anime a total of 7/10.
In the 2nd part we are shown a scene where some bench players were doing extra training to get into the team and then the extra for the kitahara elementary gets inspired form them to do more practice and wants not to just be an extra and want to be able to paly in the starting 11.
Animation
The animation for this anime is good and although could have been better but we here are talking about a 1987 anime. I found the animation at least better than kingdom season 1. Its my personal choice though. I find its animation better than that of the excess CGI used in the Kingdom.
There's nothing much to talk about so lets just review it. I'd rate it around 5/10. It couldn't have been any better in 1987.
Character Development
This is an area where I think they did not so good. Although the MC and the captain has some good character development but overall the anime lacks those that we see in modern day anime. The protagonist's love interest has also kind of mysterious character that is not at all described in the whole anime.
In this I'd rate it a 4/10. It could have been a lot better.
Hindi Dubbing
Hindi dubbing for this anime is good and we find it really soothing to watch it with sibling and kids. Although many anime may not be dubbed very good in Hindi but I find Idaten jump, kickers and Pokemon dubs to be good. and suiting the characters.
Although the female voices in this anime is not so good and has scope of improvement.
I'd like to rate it a 7/10 in this.
